Joggie’s artistic journey began in early 2022 at the age of 45 when he created his very first sculpture, De Jonge Stier, at his workshop in Thabazimbi. What started as a creative experiment quickly grew into a lifelong passion and calling. With a natural love for steel, machinery, and craftsmanship, he discovered the hidden beauty within forgotten materials - old vehicle parts, chains, gears, tools, and mechanical components that most people considered useless scrap.
Driven by his personal philosophy, “Everyone deserves a second chance,” Joggie breathes new life into every piece he creates. That belief is reflected not only in the recycled materials he uses, but also in the heart and meaning behind his art. Through patience, imagination, and remarkable craftsmanship, cold steel is transformed into powerful sculptures and statement pieces that tell stories of renewal, creativity, and purpose.
His distinctive artistic style rapidly gained recognition. In August 2022, Joggie held his inaugural exhibition at the Artbox Gallery in Pretoria, where his work received widespread attention and opened doors to exhibitions and galleries across South Africa.
In February 2023, his remarkable journey and creative process were featured on Kwêla, introducing even more people to the world of Man van Staal.

Demonstrating both artistic talent and entrepreneurial vision, Joggie opened the first Man van Staal Art Gallery in Thabazimbi in November 2022, followed by a second gallery in Parys in July 2023.
In April 2025, the Parys gallery relocated to a striking new space in the heart of the town’s bustling tourist district, situated below Jimmy Jaggers. The gallery was completely redesigned with a modern, upmarket look that reflects the evolution of the Man van Staal brand and Joggie’s growing artistic legacy.
Today, the Parys gallery proudly showcases the JK Exclusive Collection — a carefully curated selection featuring Joggie Kotze’s most exclusive, impressive, and sought-after steel artworks. The refined gallery experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in exceptional statement pieces within a contemporary space that celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and the transformation of raw steel into world-class art.
Joggie’s creations range from striking human figures, intricate chess sets, and powerful animal sculptures to modern décor, bespoke furniture, and one-of-a-kind collector’s pieces. No two artworks are ever exactly alike. Every weld, cut, and curve reflects hours of dedication, precision, and a deep respect for craftsmanship

Beyond his artistic career, Joggie is also a reverend in the Dutch Reformed Church, serving the communities of Dwaalboom and Makoppa.
Grounded in faith and family values, he is a devoted husband and loving father to his wife and their three teenage children.
His down-to-earth nature, passion for people, and dedication to his calling are evident not only in his ministry, but also in the heart behind every artwork he creates.
Visitors to Man van Staal Art Gallery experience far more than a traditional art gallery, they step into a world where forgotten steel is transformed into something extraordinary.
Through vision, craftsmanship, and passion, Joggie Kotze continues to prove that even the roughest, most discarded materials can be reborn into timeless works of art that inspire, captivate, and tell a story of transformation.
